Coach Bare's Advanced Physical Education Homepage

Hello, my name is Steve Bare.  I am Athletic Director and teach Advanced Physical Education here at Thomasville High School.  This page will contain general and specific information relating to our Advanced Physical Education classes.  I am serving in my 10th year as a member of Thomasville City Schools.  I am looking forward to working with our students and welcome all communication from home regarding our Advanced Physical Education curriculum.
Advanced Physical Education Overview:
Advanced Physical Education is designed to expand on basic knowledge, experience and physical condition developed in 9th Grade Health and Physical Education.  This course is designed to promote and develop personal fitness levels as well as experience various team and individual games.  We will also explore lifetime sports such as disc golf, bowling, golf,putt putt,  swimming, strength training, flexibility and conditioning, Each week in class, we will focus on a single sport or game as well as working to improve our personal fitness level.  We will engage in some type of aerobic conditioning activity every Wednesday through out the semester.  Week one will be spent conducting base line fitness testing in the following areas: vertical jump, broad jump, height, weight, sit and reach, push ups, sit ups, pull ups, mile run, pacer test.  We will use these results as targets for improvement through out the semester.  We will conduct fitness testing during week 1, week 6, week 12 and week 18.
As part of our curriculum, we will have the opportunity to travel during class on Fridays. We will be traveling at different times to High Point Bowling Lanes, Winding Creek Golf Course, Thomasville Disc Golf Course, and Putt Putt Golf and Games in High Point, NC.
