Class Course Descriptions

Note: ALL of my classes expose students to an overview of many personal finance considerations and a detailed look at career pathing skills such as researching and looking for careers and planning for education or a career and employment beyond high school.

 

Course Description – Business Essentials

 

This course introduces students to topics related to business, finance, management, and marketing to cover business in the global economy, functions of business organization and management, marketing basics, and significance of business financial and risk management. English language arts, social studies, and mathematics are reinforced. DECA (an association for Marketing Education students) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.

 

 

Course Description – Business Management I

 

This course is designed to introduce students to core management concepts. The experience includes how managers plan, organize, staff, and direct the business’s resources that enhance the effectiveness of the decision-making process.  Also, the experience includes students working through ethical dilemmas and problem-solving situations with customer service while academic and critical-thinking skills. English language arts and some math skills are reinforced.

 

 

Course Description – Business Management II

This course builds upon the core concepts of business management taught in Business Management I. It looks at more detail on how managers plan, organize, staff, and direct and control business. It goes into detail in the following areas: (1) an understanding of the controlling role of management, (2) understanding how managers manage supply chains and inventory, (3) understanding how managers implement safety and security procedures to minimize chance for loss, (4) understanding how managers protect company data, information, and knowledge and (5) understanding financial analysis and managing financial resources to ensure solvency. Decision making, ethical considerations, problem solving and critical thinking skills are also further addressed. English language arts and some math skills are reinforced.

 

Course Description – Microsoft Word and PowerPoint 2019

Students will learn to use the current version of Microsoft Word interface, commands, and features to create, enhance, customize, share and create complex documents, and publish them. In the second part, students will learn to use the current version of Microsoft PowerPoint interface, commands, and features to create, enhance, customize, and deliver presentations. Art and English language arts are reinforced.
